    The Tokugawa Shogunate was greatly shaken by the Perry Expedition in 1853, followed by the opening of Japan to the outside world, the Meiji Restoration, and more dramatic events. Ukiyo-e captured various aspects of Japan\u2019s transition from the Bakumatsu to the Meiji Period, such as Yokohama-e, which depicted international scenes, and giga, a form of drawing that reflected social transformation. This exhibition features ukiyo-e that showcases various expressions made during this period of change.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
