    T\u014dkaid\u014dch\u016b Hizakurige \u2015 Comedians of the Edo: Yaji and Kita<\/h3>\n

    \u201cT\u014dkaid\u014dch\u016b Hizakurige,\u201d a comedic novel written by Jippensha Ikku, was one of the bestsellers during the Edo period. This novel sparked interest in travel along the T\u014dkaid\u014d highway, delighting people during the Edo period with the humorous adventures of Yaji and Kita, as well as the local specialties and famous sights featured along the route. This exhibition features ukiyo-e prints and illustrated books inspired by the popularity of T\u014dkaid\u014dch\u016b Hizakurige, including \u201cT\u014dkaid\u014dch\u016b Kurige no Yajiuma\u201d written by Ochiai Yoshiiku.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
