    A Wonderful View: The Beauty of Landscape Ukiyo-e and Bird\u2019s Eye View Paintings<\/h3>\n

    Introduction of the Exhibition<\/h4>\n

    This exhibit will display ukiyo-e prints of famous landscapes and guide maps from the Taisho era (1912 \u2013 1926) onward in the style of bird\u2019s eye views. Ukiyo-e paintings were often depicted from a lofty viewpoint, and bird\u2019s eye view paintings depicted the landscape from an even higher vantage. In this exhibit we will introduce the ukiyo-e that utilize a bird\u2019s eye view, as well as the artists from around the Taisho era that created bird\u2019s eye view paintings used in guide maps such as Yoshida Hatsusaburo. Through their work, this exhibit will show the changes in paintings of landscapes and guide maps from the Edo period to the Showa period. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
